TRAINING POSITIONS BEING RECRUITED

Veteran Government Services (VGS) is seeking 50 Instructors (10 Combat First Aid Instructors and 40 Weapons Based Instructors) for a long term Expeditionary Combat Skills (ECS) contract in support of the Navy’s Center for Security Forces in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Personnel shall maintain high personal standards of technical knowledge and demonstrate professional competence in delivering training material.  Instructor personnel must effectively perform in a military environment, possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the U. S. Navy, military rank/grade structure, knowledge of Navy and military terminology, and shipboard/ installation environments and configurations.  In addition to meeting the aforementioned instructor requirements, each of these categories entail specialized skills, experience, and/or background as outlined in the respective sections below.

SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS

ECS Combat First Aid Instructors: Ten (10) ECS Combat First Aid Instructors perform classroom and laboratory instruction.  Instructors shall:

  • Possess at least three (3) years of documented operational experience in providing combat first aid
  • Have knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques
  • Have knowledge of computer technology application as it applies to instructional presentation and the use of classroom training aids
  • Possess above average communication skills and the ability to comprehend both verbal and written instructions.

Two (2) of the ECS Combat First Aid Instructors need current certification by the Naval Occupational Medicine Institute (NOMI) in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).

ECS Weapons Based Instructors: Forty (40) ECS Weapons Based instructors perform both classroom and laboratory instruction.  These instructors will deliver a wide variety of training topics, as well as providing instructional and safety support for live fire weapons training.  All ECS Weapons Based Instructors must be familiar with all weapons involved in the ECS training effort to include the M9 Service Pistol and M4 Service Rifle.  Weapons Based Instructors shall:

  • Possess at least two years of past military experience in an operational environment or as a Law Enforcement representative with a military or civilian security force
  • Possess/be capable of demonstrating modern dynamic combat shooting skills. Have knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques
  • Be qualified as a small arms weapons instructor
  • Have knowledge of computer technology application as it applies to instructional presentation and the use of classroom training aids
  • Possess above average communication skills and the ability to comprehend both verbal and written instructions. All ECS Weapons Based instructor shall have completed one of the small arms instructor certification courses listed in OPNAVINST 3591.1F.

These contingent positions are for a one year contract with four option years beginning on March 1, 2011. There is a two month rigid certification period for potential candidates. All instructors will be paid a competitive salary with benefits.
